In our language Urdu here in Pakistan, we call it 'Aik Aur Aik Gayara' means 1 and 1 makes not two but 11 (eleven). Thoroughly agree to your point and I think the term being used nowadays 'Echosystem' is more or less about the same concept. Am I right?

Great post because technology has made it easier and easier to put all you eggs in one basket and to drop all of them all by yourself. I use to have 60 employees back in the late 1990's. Now I have none, though I collaborate with a lot of friends and associates, working together on parsed out pieces of projects. Doing that is easier these days.

Again, great points!

Incredible point, Sonia. It's important to have redundancies and some overlap in business; while minimizing duplicated efforts. Reading between the lines here, it's key to sit down, map out and strategize your business.

I'll also add another aspect to ONE. If you have a human handling 'one' customer, e-mail, task at a time -- that's very wasteful. With marketing automation software, you can dedicate human resources to the most important critical tasks instead of menial laborious ones. If you have a system that can automate 90% of your business, you can better allocate resources throughout your business and hopefully 'Wow' customers in the process. :-)

It's definitely a numbers game. I used to go for the long shot. Along the way, I missed all the middle and short. Luckily, a mentor and accountant convinced me to build a portfolio of results rather than put all my eggs in one basket.

This proves the old adage of not putting all your egg baskets remains true today.

It's interesting that you've mentioned outsource to Indonesia, since I'm from there. Have you ever been here?

Love your post, by the way...

Hi, Sonia. Thanks for this post in particular. Had I read this before, I wouldn't have experienced the bad slump I went through several months ago. I had one client at the time, and although I was totally aware that I would have no work left if they folded up, I didn't look for new clients. Then it happened. Now I'm trying to climb back up again, looking for new clients when I could have done that several months ago.

Again, thanks. I know you can help others prevent doing the same mistakes that would cost them a lot of time and heartache. :)
